Stunning photos and a polished promo video showcase these cat trees in a way I’ve never seen before. And look at those models!

You’ve got to be kidding! $125,000 US for a cat tree. That could spay/neuter lots of cats, provide needed vaccinations, food, shelter. I just don’t get how someone would spend that kind of money on this. My cats are totally pampered: a birdfeeder outside every window, beds and blankets everywhere; grain-free food; excellent vet care; tons of love. This sort of thing would make their lives better? I don’t think so.

ummmm hellloooooo, the cat trees start at 125 pounds and goes up to 1049 pounds. for all the public school attendees, thats UK currency. which is a little less than double to us dollars.
on another note, how do you get cat fur out of faux fur lol?

Hee. Anyone else find this campaign hilariously, over-the-top pretentious?
And more than a little creepy, too.

For that price the sisal should be silk, and the wood, mahogany.

Absolutely agree with MaryAnn Riggs. This is over-the-top awful. Glad to see they at least had the consciousness to use FAUX fur, though. And I love the models, of course.

I’m with you MaryAnn. When my cat prefers to play with paper bags and boxes I learned to spend my money on good cat food and my rent which keeps a roof over our heads instead of fancy toys and cat furniture. I bought a simple window perch once so she could look out the window easier and for the first few days all she wanted to lay on was the box it came in. Pretty funny to see her lay on a cardboard box that said “cat window perch” on it. Cat’s know love not luxury.

Actually, Maryann, the prices are in Euros. That means they range from about $200 to over $1,000. While I still think that’s a hefty price to pay, that it could provide so much good, it’s still a far cry from the $125,000 you’re citing. My cat is spoiled too. He’s got a carpet tower, a raw diet, and all the love I could ever give, but I’d never drop that kind of money for something that wasn’t essential to his health. I’m with your point all the way, but it’s important to have the right facts too.

I agree they are expensive (in Australian dollars), but they are beautiful. I don’t know if I would spend that sort of money when you can cheaper ones that are just as good and I can’t be sure if my cats would use one. They prefer my lap and bed.

How cool are these? I’d love to have one for my cats, and it would be cool to have an even bigger one on my bedroom to sleep on.

Please be careful of “faux fur” products especially if they come from China. They have been caught before claiming their fur products were fake and it turned out to be dog and cat fur mixed with synthetic fur. One case a few years ago during xmas time a large retail chain sold coats with fur lined hoods which had dog fur in them from China. I do not buy any fake fur cat toys or beds or other products from China that is the best way to make sure I am not purchasing real fur from dogs and cats.

I’ll just go to my backyard, cut some branches from an old non- cat- toxic tree get out the nails and hammer, and let my aesthetic intuition guide me to assemble it, take out the sewing machine and go to town with some removable/ washable, padded fabr.ics. All for my time invested. And donate any saved money to the San Diego Feral Cat Coalition

That video should be on Tosh.

Even if the video is really nice I still don’t like the trees. Just not my style.

My cats would go nuts over thic toy!
May 30th, 2012 at 2:16 pm
I agree, Margaret. Great way to promote them, but just not my style, thankfully.

These trees do not look modern at all. I am not sure why they are on modern cat.

I agree with Teresa, I’ve made such cat-trees from pieces of wood I found in the park and leftover materials. They are not really difficult to make! I think these are overpriced. But they look a lot better than the usual sisal/carpet ‘trees’!

Americans are used to everything being incredibly cheap and easy. 200 bucks wouldnt even get you a particularly big regular style cat tree in Europe. Personally I prefer to pay for my effect on the environment, as a general philosophy. Having it all cheap and easy isn’t fair on the rest of the world. Kyoto anybody?
