Here’s a completely new kind of carrier that’s quite good looking, too. It’s the Curvations Luxury Pet Carrier from Petmate. The whole thing folds up for storage and pops open into a soft but rigid form. There are openings on all sides for ventilation and visibility and it says it’s washable.
It measures 18″ x 12″ x 14″ so this would be good for small to medium cats (my 17 lb. Maine Coon might be a little snug in there!) Available in chocolate and white zebra print and also in a pink and white abstract design.
Normally $99.99, on sale now for $53.89 at Amazon.

don’t understand why they make them so small. most of my cats are … beefy … and i have one that would fit in there, but i’m not sure how comfortably. the sleepypods, while pricy, are still the best i’ve found.

I have a similar Sherpa carrier and like it. The zipper is a bit fiddly and while it can be wiped down with a wet sponge or cloth, the only real ‘washable’ part is the pad inside. I think that is the same for this Petmate carrier. I do like the fact that you can also unzip the top of this carrier, especially nice at the vets when trying to get a cat out of a carrier. I might just have to buy this one and donate my Sherpa in a CB raffle, hahameow!

I am in LOVE with this! I am wondering though, I got rid of a soft sided carrier because it just didn’t feel “sturdy” enough for me. Is this super sturdy? Anyone know?

Hi there,
I think these are very sweet. I agree they should come in a larger size. I have one tiny cat and one gigantic cat – both sisters from the same litter. Would work for the wee one but the big one not so much!

Very interesting!

Wow, gorgeous. For the price, needs to be a bit bigger. Is a few inches here and there really that expensive?

I have two of these carriers- one exactly like this one and another one similar…the zebra stripe one I happened to catch on clearance at Petsmart years ago for $35. It’s incredibly sturdy- it’s constructed of a very dense foam about 1/2in thick.! We have four cats, and I can transport all but one in this carrier for vet visits- of the three that use it, they range in weight from a 4lb kitten to a 17lb monster Mau. The Mau is kind of almost too big, but it’s doable for the 15 min ride to the Dr.
The other carrier I have that is similar also has a shoulder strap, and is taller, but not as wide. This one is really for small cats and kittens. The our small 10lb kitty is about as large as can fit in this one.
