And here we have it! The results of our Catification Makeover contest sponsored by The Vertical Cat! Carol’s Ferals, the lucky winner of the contest, is now a kitty dream come true. The main room of their facility has truly been catified!
Thanks to the team at The Vertical Cat, Carol’s Ferals received $1,000 of products plus a private consultation on the design with yours truly, the design team at The Vertical Cat, and none other than Jackson Galaxy, cat behaviorist extraordinaire. We looked at photos and videos of the space and made some suggestions for features that we though would make the cats more comfortable while they wait to be adopted. And from the look of these happy kitties, it seems to be a success!
Shelves, perches, cat stairs, hideaways, and window walks were used to create what Jackson refers to as a “cat superhighway.” What we love about this highway is that there are no dead ends and there are multiple traffic lanes. There are always options for cats to easily move past one another without being trapped in a corner. In a space with this many cats, this is essential for keeping the peace.
All of the pieces were custom painted in Carol’s Feral’s signature orange. These cats have so many options now!

Congrats to Carol’s Ferals. Thank you Jackson for helping this kitties have a fabulous space to live in while waiting for a deserving human. Lots of exercise for the kitties as well as personal space.

What an amazing makeover, Kate — and such gorgeous, happy cats! The “feline superhighway” reminds me also of The Cats’ House, the famous San Diego, CA home of Bob Walker and Frances Mooney and their wonderful clowder. *Great minds think alike*

this is amazing, you have out- mastered yourselves. I am sure it will make these little guys’ lives more enriched. Feral Cats are so in need of special care. I thank you and I am sure they would do the same if they verbally could, but I am sure all you have to do is watch how happy they are.
