We all know, cats love sinks. There’s just something about the shape and the cool ceramic surface that is a cat magnet. Let’s say you wanted to give kitty the luxury of lounging in a sink, but outside the bathroom. Well, you’re probably not going to set-up a real sink in your living room. Luckily, there’s an alternative from a new company, Little Cat Design. It’s the Cat’s Contour Ceramic Cat Bed and it was designed with sink-loving cats in mind. The designers created the new ceramic cat bed for their cat who was secluding herself in the bathroom. Now she can lounge comfortable in any room in this sleek, modern, ceramic bowl designed just for cats.

Here’s another fun Kickstarter project for an awesome new kitty hideaway! It’s Louie’s Box, a submarine-shaped cardboard hideout designed just for cats. It’s from a design team in Tel Aviv who created is especially for their cat Louie. This is the first in a series of designs and they’re looking for some support to make it happen.

Louie’s Box is designed to ship flat and assemble without any glue. It creates the perfect hiding/playing/napping spot for cats — and it looks cool, too! When assembled, it measures 9.5″ wide by 15.5″ deep by 12.5″ tall.

They need to raise $5,000 to make the first batch. Check out the Louie’s Box Kickstarter page to see all the great perks you can get for supporting the project. You can get t-shirts, bumper stickers, submarines, and if you want to make a big contribution, you could even get to name one of their future products after your own cat!

Here are some wonderful artisan-made cat products from an organization that is making a difference. SERRV is a nonprofit organization that supports artisans and farmers worldwide by marketing their crafts and goods through an alternative trade outlet. The program helps these artisans to build their businesses, providing them with a sustainable income.

The SERRV website offers all kinds of goods, including a few interesting cat products. The Double-Decker Cat House, shown above, is a collaboration between two different groups. Dhaka Handicrafts from Bangladesh makes the frame and the cushion is made by a different group in Nepal. The frame has a wire base that is wrapped with fibers from the Holga plant, a renewable resource found along the riverbanks in Bangladesh. The Holga Scratching Post, also shown above, is made from the same material.

One more kitty-related find on the SERRV website comes from The Community Crafts Association in the Philippines. This set of two cat toys is woven from lukmoy vine and each has a metal jingle bell inside.

Here’s a brand new concept in modern cat furniture, and I have one word — BRILLIANT! It’s from the designers at Paper Lion, a new company making modern, eco-friendly cat products. This is one of the most innovative uses of material I’ve seen in the cat product industry.

The KittyNest appears to be made from a honeycomb paper material that looks like something cats would completely love. Because of the flexible nature of the material, this took some really creative thinking to make it work for cats. By stretching the honeycomb material over a wire frame, you create a beautiful piece of cat furniture that serves as a lounge, hideaway and scratcher. It’s so simple and so elegant. Plus, when kitty has had her way with it, all the parts of the KittyNest can be easily recycled.

Hold on to your hats, cat-loving connoisseurs of mid-century modern design! Here’s something you don’t see everyday! It’s a vintage cat house designed by the office of none other than Frank Lloyd Wright. This pieces was designed for the daughter of Gerald Tonkens, for whom Frank Lloyd Wright designed a residence in Amberley Village, Ohio in 1955.

The original drawing of the cat house, ‘Felis Catus’, was completed by Thomas Olson, the site supervisor for the project. Apparently, Mr. Wright described the design to Mr. Olson over the phone, which is why the design is credited to the Office of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Both the original house and the drawing are currently available for sale on 1stDibs.com for — are you ready for this??? — $14,500.

Here’s one for all the U.K. Moderncat fans. It’s the Jolly Moggy Radiator Cat Bed, a cylindrical bamboo cat bed that hangs on a standard radiator, creating a cozy perch and hideaway.

I love this concept, however I don’t have a radiator, but I could see this being used in other ways. You could hang it from a bed frame or off the back or side of a sofa. There are lots of different places this could go, and I’m sure kitty would find it anywhere you put it.

I can’t find it available for sale anywhere in the US, but it is available on Amazon.co.uk.

Polish kitties now have some very nice options for scratching and lounging. Introducing myKitty, a new company that focuses on design for cats. Their current offerings include two large scratch lounges that are beautifully designed with a modern aesthetic.

I came across this line of stylish cat products from Dutch company Curver. They specialize in plastic home goods and also have a line of litter boxes, beds and carriers that look like rattan but are made of easy-to-clean plastic. They also make sleek storage containers decorated with cat photos, like the litter storage box pictured above.

The Curver website says that their products are available in the US at HomeGoods, Marshall’s and TJMaxx, but I can’t find them on the store websites. Some of the products are available in the UK through AmazonUK and in the Netherlands through PurrFectDesign.

We first introduced this awesome cat hammock as the Kitty Cradle, but it has a new name, the Cat Crib, and this week it will be shipping for the first time. This fun new cardboard creation is from Hong Kong-based design company Starfruit. It’s the MEOW Play House and it looks like kitty heaven!

The MEOW Play House will apparently come in four different colors. The structure includes hideaways, a rooftop perch and a scratching ramp. I love it and I can’t wait to get my hands on one, but there isn’t any purchasing info on the site at the moment. Korean designer Seungji Mun created this concept for a feline-friendly sofa. Simply called the Cat Tunnel Sofa, it integrates a play tube for kitties into the design of the sofa structure. I think it’s pretty brilliant and I have some foster kittens right now who would go out of their minds for this.

As a concept, it’s intriguing, but I do think there are some practical issues that need to be addressed. The number one concern I have is cleaning. Yes, there’s an opening on top, but there are still long stretches of tube that I’m pretty sure will be christened with a hairball or two almost immediately upon introduction. How are you going to clean that? Also, I have a rule that there are no places in my house where my cats can go where I could not reach them in case of an emergency (or an unwanted trip to the vet), so this would need some modification to work for me, but I absolutely love the basic idea.

These modern cat beds from Etsy seller Spenser Pets are not just beautiful, they have a really interesting feature that kitty is sure to love. These handmade beds are self-warming, capturing kitty’s body heat and making a cozy nest without any electricity.

The flannel insert is lined with a layer of metallized insulation that reflects your cat’s own body heat. What a great idea! The outer cover is removable and washable and the inner foam form is covered with batting for extra softness.

Modernist Cat has been designing and manufacturing exquisite mid-century modern style cat furniture for a couple of years, but this redesign is the best yet. The line now offers pieces that are beautiful, functional and flexible.

The new version of the Circa50 Collection includes three cabinets that can be stacked, set side by side, or used as standalone pieces. These cabinets are designed to be litter hiders or hideaway beds. The Standard cabinet has double doors in front and a side entrance, and the Compact I and Compact II have one or two side entrances. All the styles have ventilation holes on both sides. I love the configuration below, which could house the litter box in the upper cabinet, making it very easy to scoop.

A while ago I wrote about a puff ball bed that was like a little beanbag for cats. Everyone went wild for the puff ball bed, but unfortunately, it’s no longer available. That’s why I was so excited to see this new creation from Moderncat favorite West Paw Design! It’s their Eco Drop Pet Bed and it looks like something a cat would love to sink down into for a nice cozy nap.

The Eco Drop bed has a removable, washable cover made from 100% recycled fabric that’s milled in the USA. It comes in three different colors and sizes. I think the small size would be perfect for a cat (or go larger if you think this would be a good location for a cat pile.)

Lucky kitties in the UK and surrounding countries have access to this beautiful modern cat bed from Zooplus. They call it the Retro Cat Bed, but it looks very futuristic and mod to me.

The half-sphere of acrylic comes with a soft cushion on the bottom and a removable “cosy cover” that lines the entire bed for extra comfort. The bed usually sells for £129.90, but Zooplus currently has it listed for £54.90. Unfortunately, they only ship to select European countries.

I know, it’s not fair for me to post things that aren’t available everywhere, but so often our feline-loving friends in Europe are left out of the fabulous finds that are only available here in the US, so this one’s for them!

Apparently, Lithuania is the place for incredible felted cat beds! I’ve written about Etsy sellers VaivaNat and Grazim, both from Lithuania. Now let me introduce elevele, another Lithuanian Etsy seller making beautiful felt creations for cats.

These cat caves are handmade with 100% merino wool. The marbled colors are absolutely gorgeous! They come in three sizes, S, M and L, or she will make a custom size for you. The cat caves can be hand washed and air dried. They range in price from $57 to $77 US.

Each cat cave comes with a removable, washable cotton mat. This is a great idea!

What cat wouldn’t love a hideaway in the shape of a giant milk container? This is adorable! It’s the Milk Box pet house from MOISSUE. Keep it simple with a plain white carton, or dress it up with cool cat-themed vinyl stickers.
