They’ve done it again! Paul Klusman and his trusty assistant TJ, creators of An Engineer’s Guide to Cats, have made a new video just in time for the election. An Engineer’s Guide to Voting (Ginger Cat for President) has more of their hysterical antics, this time nominating Paul’s cat Ginger for president along with Zoey for VP. They definitely have my vote!
Remember this video, “Simon’s Cat: Cat-Man-Do”? Well, I came across a real life video showing just how true the cartoon is (without the baseball bat). Here they both are for your viewing pleasure.
This video features Charley, an awesome cat who happens to have cerebellar hypoplasia, a condition that affects the motor skills. Other than some awkward movements, Charley and other cats with this condition are happy and healthy and can live perfectly normal lives. Apparently, kittens with this condition are often needlessly destroyed. Please help spread the word that cats with cerebellar hypoplasia can make wonderful pets.
I still think that the Engineer’s Guide to Cats is the best thing on YouTube, but this talking cats video is a close second. It definitely wins the award for best voiceover.
This video outlines the steps of clicker training a cat. I’ve heard of this technique, but I was never really clear about how it is supposed to work. I always assumed that the clicker was for deterring bad behavior but that is not the case. Clicker training is a positive reinforcement method and the clicker sound is used to communicate when the animal has done the right thing. Positive reinforcement, also known as operant conditioning, rewards the animal for positive or desired behavior. The video helps to clarify.
Karen Pryor, an expert in clicker training, narrates this video made by clicker trainer Catherine Crawmer. You can find quite a bit of information on clicker training at www.clickertraining.com.
Has anyone ever tried this? How did it work for you?
This is Goma. If you haven’t met him, please check out his blog mycatgoma.com. Goma is a beautiful Himalayan cat who lives in Vermont with his mom Sachie. Here we have Goma enjoying his Pod Bed from Hepper Home. Goma demonstrates the many ways to be entertained by a Pod Bed. Goma cracks me up!
Had to share this fun video–with an important message–put together by the folks at the Alliance for Humane Action. Is your moderncat spayed or neutered?
